I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

The Betty Crocker house may be off the market but travel west a bit and you'll fall in love with this lovely antique home situated in the gorgeous Quabbin Region of Massachusetts.

An antique home holds special characteristics that you

can't find in a new build.  Betty Crocker is a household name synonymous with cooking.  I have the Betty Crocker cookbook that we were given when married over 35 years ago.  I also have a copy that my mom received as a gift in 1961.  What fun it would be to live in the Betty Crocker house!  I found the listing for this wonderful Massachusetts property on Country Living's website recently.  Sadly, it's now off the market.

 Love that retro oven!
Travel about 70 miles west of Boston on Route 2 and you'll find yourself in the picturesque Quabbin Region of Massachusetts.  Recently shown on Boston Magazine on-line; outdoor enthusiasts, this one's for you!  Petersham offers loads of opportunities for hiking, biking and other outdoor activities.
This large and comfortable country kitchen offers all that Betty could ask for.
A fabulous place to sit and have coffee.
A living room that's colorful and cozy.  It boasts an enjoyable gas fireplace!
Another recent Country Living article showcases old house features that should never have gone out of style.  This room is one of them....read here to find out why.
The home also has a sleeping porch....fabulous!
The beautiful dining room has access to a screened in porch.
Cozy yet bright study.
The 2.7 acre property boasts two barns including this large post and beam barn.  The newly installed standing seam metal roof is remarkable!
New construction simply does not offer historical character.
Perennial gardens perfect for bird watching.
Host a lovely twilight dinner overlooking the lower field.  The property offers Christmas trees, apple trees and a bountiful raspberry patch.  Be creative.....this could be the place for those agricultural pursuits you dream of.  Grow luscious grapes or hops that are useful in the current craft beer craze!
